The key role of reaction temperature on a polyol synthesis of water-dispersible iron oxide nanoparticles

The controlled synthesis of water-dispersible iron oxide nanoparticles is essential for biomedical application. For the continuous growth in polyols, it still unclear how temperature will affect nanoparticles. This work studies role reaction on diethylene glycol (DEG). At 235 °C and below, nanoparticle size increases with increase temperature. These are highly water dispersible. Interestingly, further to boiling point DEG (245 °C), precipitations produced during reaction. resulted not stable an aqueous solution anymore. X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) analysis employed study surface changes prepared at different temperatures. size, crystal structure, magnetic properties these characterized by TEM, DLS, XRD, XPS, FTIR, SQUID magnetometry. crystallite sizes from XRD match very well those TEM. consist a single-grain domain. structure exhibits magnetite phase. magnetization studied synthesized can be used potential resonance imaging which indicated their transverse (r2) longitudinal relaxivities (r1). relaxivity consistent various
